Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life. Not all treasure is silver and gold, mate.

If you’ve ever played Sea of Thieves you know the feeling of sailing the seas and living the pirate life. At some point in the game, Pirates of the Caribbean has crossed most peoples minds. The movies are what culture almost defines pirates as. Chugging a cup of grog on your Sea of Thieves ship as you sail away from an epic fight is similar to Jack Sparrow always downing his rum (when he can find some) after one of his many near death encounters.
Many of the games players asked for a Sea of Thieves and Pirates of the Caribbean crossover. However, part of the fun in the game is finding your own path as you battle for the coveted Pirate Legend title. The game has always centered around things that happen in the Sea of Thieves oceans without bringing in to much outside influence. Now that they have decided to bring in such a huge name as Jack Sparrow and his crew, it’s a new twist in this epic adventure. But with Disney behind this collaboration, some awesome things are sure to come.
“Sea of Thieves aims to immerse players in a fantastical depiction of the pirate life, filled with colorful characters and vibrant locations to explore. The sense of fun, wonder and the imaginative spirit that we hold real affection for in the world of Pirates of the Caribbean always felt like it could be complementary to the world of Sea of Thieves, and we’ve striven alongside the teams at Disney to celebrate this.”

Sea Of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life trailer makes this look like it’s going to give the game a lot of fresh new content. I have sunk many hours (and many ships) in this game. If you’ve got some time to kill and a good crew, the game can provide a lot of entertainment. The developers have done a good job keeping new things coming to the game with new challenges, titles, and cosmetics to collect along the way. But it can definitely turn into a grind and eventually get a bit repetitive. Most my crew has slowly faded away and comes back for only the new updates. With the biggest update since launching coming, I sure hope this will attract a lot of new and returning players to set sail once again.
I know I will definitely be hopping back in and seeing what all this brings to the game. I mean, who wouldn’t want to sail with the legendary pirate, Captain Jack Sparrow. While it doesn’t look like Jack will be a playable character, he will be aboard the ship and become a member of your crew. We can only assume that will mean you will be a big target to all Jacks enemies, both old and new. Between Davy Jones coming for Jack, Sirens hoping to drag your ship to a water grave alongside the Black Pearl, and Ocean Crawlers sneaking aboard your decks, the game is bringing lots of new challenges.

The update is supposed be a great place for new players to also start their pirate journey. So whether you are already an avid player or someone who’s been looking to try out the game, this should be a great new experience. If you own the game or have it on Xbox Game Pass you will get this new update for free. It releases on June 22nd.
