Classic N64 Games are Arriving on the Nintendo Switch

(Source: Nintendo)

Lots of Nintendo fans grew up with a Nintendo 64 in their homes. Nintendo knows this and wanted to make an easy way for us to get our hands back on the classics.

Expansion Pack Price?

These games are going to become available in an “Expansion Pack” for Switch’s online services. This will cost $49.99 for a 12-month individual subscription and $79.99 for the family plan.

This price increase more than doubles the $20 individual membership currently offered for the Switch online program. However, I don’t actually think it’s that bad of a deal if you are going to use it and play the games. The Expansion Pack tier will include Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, and Mega Drive games. The upcoming paid DLC for Animal Crossing will also be included in this new tier for no additional cost.

Will the N64 and Gensis Games have Online Multiplayer?

With this pack being considered an expansion to the online services you would assume that multiplayer will be available. This is correct! Any games that have multiplayer will be supported on the Switch as well. As long as all players are in the same expansion tier you will be able to join your friends in online games.

Classic Controllers Coming Back?

Images have been floating around with these new controllers. We can confirm that these are indeed real and coming out very soon. These controllers will cost $49.99. For a remake of these classics that is not too bad a price. These will be available to the public and NOT exclusive to the Expansion Pack tier members.

Would definitely be a fun way to play these old games with a controller that brings back the memories.

Release Date for Expansion Pack Tier?

The Expansion Pack and new controllers are both live starting October 25th.
